According to council public relations and international affairs second meeting of specialized committees of national board for development and monitoring of hematopoietic stem cell registries and cord blood banks held. In the beginning Dr Nikugoftar told about the preparation of the secretariat building at Italy Street and holding next meetings of specialized committees in this center. Next Dr Hamidieh expressed, the goal of this meeting is the regulation of necessary standards and preparations for registries, cord blood banks, internal and foreign interactions and programming of international affairs, forming campaign and other activities under a single law and in accordance with committee regulation. He emphasized: Only the centers which actively participate in the committee meetings will benefit from services and support of the ministry of health. Dr Mehdiazadeh on behalf of HLA registry committee told about the current situation of registering information and said, “IBTO benefits from useful experiences in recruiting blood donors and appropriate collaborating with treatment centers. This center launched its stem cell database in 2010 and HLA typing at SEPAS center is in progress. Difficulties for sending samples out of the country, paying the fees and travel time for patients are current problems of this center. Taleghani center has been able to operate high resolution HLA typing with high precision and acquired necessary immunogenetic standards". Next Dr Gharesifard reported information about Shiraz center and stated, “ This center has started standardizations and molecular procedures for HLA typing from 2010 and 2500 donors with consent has been recruited in this center.” Because of referring donors from different centers, individuals must have identification code searching and to prevent double registration of information. Next Dr. Hamidieh stated, "New registries must establish on the location where transplantation centers operate. According to committee regulation data of registries and cord blood banks must store in committee secretariat". Dr. Mehdizadeh said, "In future we must consider development of banks and integration of these centers. We can minimize the cost for HLA typing by using unified forms." Dr. Nourizadeh member of immunology, asthma and allergy of TUMS said,"HLA bank of our center has been able to gather 400 samples and is ready for HLA typing". Next Dr. Ostad Ali councilor of the committee told about the way of operation of registries in other countries and said, "It is better to collect samples by local registries to prevent transportation of individuals. He emphasized the consideration of regulations and standards and consent forms and security of donor information and said, "It is better to make benefit of individuals with lower age and accessible jobs to prevent losing donors". Dr. Hamidieh expressed the importance and value of geographical distributed registries and taking benefit of minorities across the country and added, "Thus we can benefit from HLA information of minorities for patients which have not been able to reach matched donor". Dr. Atarodi member of standardization committee said, "Standards must be prepared based on the needs of patients and according to other centers across the world transplantation doctors must define minimum requirements". Dr. Zarabi member of Royan institute discussed about the aggregation of sporadic university facilities specially IBTO and said,"due to appropriate infrastructure in IBTO, special position must be considered for Tehran and other provinces". He reported that 2500 HLA samples exist in Royan institute and 1800 samples have been registered in BMDW. Ms. Hoseini representative of public relations committee explained about strategies of the committee and stated, Duty of this committee is to prepare appropriate technical and scientific infrastructure for communications and collaboration with target groups". Dr. Nikougoftar representative of cord blood bank committee explained about current situation of banks in Iran and other parts of the world and added,"In Iran Blood Transfusion Organization 2500 samples have been collected and 4 collection sites exist. Also 9 transplantations have been done by IBTO samples in Shariati Hospital." "Organization, development, quality promotion, standardization, collaboration and real monitoring are parts of the tasks of the committee", Dr .Hamidieh said. He also mentioned that members of specialized committees hold mettings till the next month.
