Manufacturing of stem cell products and commercialization must be a priority
According to the council public relations and international affairs, Dr. Farhadi minister of science at the first meeting of Ear, Nose and throat (ENT) working-group of the council for development of stem cell sciences and technologies said, "Given the role of the stem cell council, transferring the technology of this science to knowledge-based companies is an important action to take into consideration for manufacturing cell-based products. Therefor production of these products must be the priority of the council.
Next he mentioned the magnitude of the application of stem cell and regenerative medicine in treatment of various diseases and also promotion of this field and said, "with regard to holding working groups of the council, It Is necessary to invite specialists in the fields of engineering including individuals from Sharif and Amir Kabir University. The priorities of the council must also been determined based on the latest findings.
Dr. Farhadi also emphasized the necessity to operate related committees in provinces and said, "In this regard, activities which will lead to developments in this field must be identified and future studies must be based upon these researches."
Dr. Amir Ali hamidieh, Secretary of council for development of stem cell sciences and technologies emphasized the importance of health and security in a society and said, "the country has been achieved the basic science of stem cell and it must be translated for all medicine fields so we would be able to see future products.
He also told about the approval of the regulations for cell, tissue and gene therapy and also regulations for national committee for development and monitoring of stem cell donor registry centers in the past year with the help of food and drug organization and ministry of health.
He continued," more than 27 working groups has been activated in the council from the past year with participation of both clinical and basic researchers.
At the end he added," Vice-Presidency for science and technology play an important role in policy-making and removal of obstacles in the field of stem cell and regenerative medicine."
