Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells Technologies

According to the public relations and international affairs of the council for development of stem cell sciences and technologies, the second symposium on stem cells and regenerative medicine in kidney disease and urinary tract was held on March 9^th, 2017 in Royan institute by support of the council for development of stem cell sciences and technologies.

These are the main topics of the symposium:

-          Stem cells and regenerative medicine in chronic Renal failure

-          Stem cells and regenerative medicine in Glomerular diseases

-          Stem cells and regenerative medicine in Polycystic Kidney Disease

-          Stem cells and regenerative medicine in Renal artery disease

-          Stem cells and regenerative medicine in end-stage Renal disease

-          Kidney transplantation and Dialysis

In this symposium, Dr. Hamidieh, secretary of the council said: cell processing and basic research centers should be close to equipped hospitals in order to use research achievements in the field of stem cells and regenerative medicine and all research centers across the country should be taken it into consideration.

He mentioned that, kidney is the first organ that researchers try to replace it with an artificial kidney. Reducing deaths were caused by brain death and increasing the number of kidney patients waiting for kidney transplantation caused regenerative medicine play an important role for them. In addition, cost of treating kidney disease is very high.

Large projects such as Nephrostomy project is ongoing in Europe. He asked local researchers try to increase the speed and accuracy of their research in this area.

At the end of his speech he expressed the hope that every day witnessed the arrival of new clinical cell therapy products and services to the market of our country Leads to cure numerous diseases.
