By support of vice presidency of science and technologies, comprehensive centers for stem cell science and regenerative medicine in Tabriz and Shiraz are inaugurated.

Dr. Hamidieh at the opening of the second conference of stem cell and regenerative medicine in Mashhad Stating that expanding the field of stem cells, especially within last two years has an important role in creation of new job opportunities. Council for stem cell science and technologies focuses on education, research, Human resource development, commercialization and developing of knowledge-based companies and Development and regulation of clinical services.

Now infrastructure necessary to expand production and product registration has been prepared and presented to the market. In addition, registration regulation for products of cells and gene therapies has been assigned by the government, he added. Iran in producing knowledge and research took the fifteenth place in the world, 2^nd in Middle East and first between Islamic countries in the field of stem cells and regenerative medicine in 2016. Four years ago the number of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation was more than 400 cases a year, but now has increased to more than a thousand cases per year. Knowledge-based companies active in the field of cell science limited to one or two cases about 3 years ago but now the number of such companies has reached to more than 60 companies with 350 registered products, Dr. Hamidieh mentioned.
