According to the public relations and international affairs of the council for stem cell sciences and technologies, Dr. Mohammad Ali Nilforoush Zadeh, Associate Professor of Dermatology, a faculty member of Tehran University of Medical Sciences and head of the Dermatology and Stem Cell Research Center at Tehran University of Medical Sciences participated in an interview.

Dr. Nilforoush Zadeh said: In 2014, fibroblast cells were used to rejuvenate and eliminate ocular wrinkles and laugh lines in the form of a clinical trial study at the Dermatology and Stem Cell Research Center of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, and the results of these studies were also published. Also, fibroblasts-rich fat have also been used to treat acne scars and have shown good results. Currently, the center has been working on a project to treat EB wounds using biological wound dressing, such as fibroblast cell culturing on the amniotic membrane and the use of platelet gel drived from cord blood.

In 2015, autologous keratinocyte cells were also used to eliminate drug-induced accidental scarring. Cell therapy using melanocyte and keratinocyte suspension for patients with vitiligo and lucoderma, also had good results in the clinical trial. SVFs were used to eliminate Nasolabial folds in the clinical trial.

He added: "The researchers of this center, in collaboration with the Royan Institute, have done several different studies on the efficacy of injection of dermal papilla cells and hair follicle’s epithelial cells to produce hair. Also, the safety of injection of human hair follicle cells into human was also investigated in a study.

Dr. Nilforosh Zadeh said: It should be noted that now fibroblasts are commercialized in the world and used as a Laviv vial for removing wrinkles. And of course, these cells are among the cells that have managed to make a good commercialization path in our country and have adopted the necessary laws and standards from the relevant institutions and legislators. The use of mesenchymal cells in wrinkle removal and rejuvenation throughout the world has also been successful in commercialization. In the future it is also possible for mesenchymal cells to use for patients inside the country.
