According to the public relations and information center of the vice presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, vice president for science and technology at the signing of a collaboration agreement to create the "City of cells” said: A valuable step on the road towards the development of stem cell technology is started in universities and could make grow in this field of science in future. Not only the future of higher education, but also the future of society depends on research, entrepreneurship and innovation. Actions of this kind are more important than scientific or economic activities, because they are culture making and remove hidden spaces between the university and the community. The role of scientific and research achievements is to put universities and society together. With the removal of the hidden walls of the university and the surrounding community, universities achievements turn to essential component of peoples lives and knowledge-based economy is a prerequisite for progress.
Mohammad Farhadi, Minister of Science, Research and Technology said: It is the responsibility of the Ministry of Science to licensed Knowledge based companies within stem cells city so quickly. He also noted that the Khwarizmi University has young researchers and a lot of space that must be used in a good way. In general, universities should look for Futures Studies as University of third generation and comprehensive work to be done and technologies used in the service of society.
Amir Ali Hamidieh, secretary for development of stem cell sciences and technologies also said: city of cells is specialized and focused environment for high-speed activities for growth centers, accelerators, knowledge-based companies and academic and research activities in the field of stem cell science and technology. In this city of cells, In addition to activities of science and technology parks and centers, educational services and promote cell pre-clinical services provided. Animal farms, laboratory and other departments provide instructional and support services for knowledge-based companies.
Hamidieh mentioned that, this field is one of the strategic areas of technology which is crucial for our country. In addition to effective help to the treatment of incurable diseases, it is also so important for making our country very powerful and independent. Iran will become as one of the top regional and global powers in this field of sciences.
According to the memorandum of cooperation signed by the Science and Technology Vice President, Minister of Science, Research and Technology, stem cell sciences and technologies as one of the worlds top technology make our country to be focused and coherent in this field by creating a comprehensive city of cells at the Khwarizmi University.
The memorandum of understanding "to launch the first specialized accelerators in the field of stem cells and tissue engineering in Iran" also signed by Khwarizmi University and Community of producers and exporters of Iran Medical Biotechnology.
