According to council public relations and international affairs the workshop of “Organoid-Tumoroid technology and its application in diagnosis” held on 17 November 2016 at Tehran University of Medical sciences comprehensive laboratory.

This workshop held as a one-day program and with participation of Dr. Tokameh Mahmoudi from Netherlands’ Erasmus university and Dr. Maryam Atakhorami from England’s UCL and were well received and welcomed by exceptional presence of professors, students and enthusiasts in this field.

At the beginning of the workshop The organoid technology was presented by Dr. Tokameh Mahmoudi and its relation with stem cells. She mentioned,”we are now able to study body organs as 3D models by application of organoid technology. This is a brand new technology and is growing at a very fast rate as of 2012 which we had the most researches in this field. This technology was named as one of the greatest scientific breakthroughs at 2013 issue of Scientist magazine.

Next she mentioned different kinds of organoids including brain, thyroid, intestine and liver and stated, “Organoid has been known as one of the best models of biological studies and researches related to stem cells.”

At the second half of the program Dr. Atakhorami told about the new market of this science and its importance across the world. Next she pointed out the progress of this science and the interest of scientists around the world in this area and examined the current challenges in the field.
