According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, stated on the 24th Razi Research Festival on Medical Sciences, which was held in the presence of the first vice president and supervisor of the ministry health: a new approach has been established in the country based on human-resource-based economics. We must realize that our children are the biggest assets of the country. What makes wealth for the country is not underground resources but our children.

Sattari emphasized the money-making nature of the field of medicine and the fact that no other fields can create higher added values, mentioning: in the field of medicine, we received more feedback than the ICT area, and we continue to see the growth of active companies in these areas. For instance, a program was initiated last year, in which 60 drugs and eight vaccines were produced in the field of livestock and poultry.

Pointing out the suitability of this field for investment, especially by the private sector, he explained: different types of accelerators have been established in the field of biotechnology in various cities of the country, such as Tehran, Shiraz, Tabriz, and Urmia. Research in this field is so close to the market that many examples and successful companies have been created. As a result, it makes the investment in medicine more economical.

The vice president for science and technology affairs announced great phenomenon occurred in this field to direct the engineering schools toward medicine field.

He continued: today, this field has entered into engineering faculties such as Sharif Industrial, medical sciences, and even business accelerators in the biotechnology field. New schools have turned to interdisciplinary sciences, which is considered to be the right path. Once, the different schools were separated, and today, we have come to the conclusion that these schools should be merged and interdisciplinary sciences must make a new way.

He declared: everyone must know that economy, occupation, and credits come out of research. Through research, we can maintain the youth of the country and return those outside Iran. The largest source for recruiting the youth from abroad is startups. We have many successful examples, and 60% of individuals returning to the country are currently working in startups.

The vice president for science and technology affairs mentioned: our main attempt is changing the ecosystem, as well as the attitude and environment. Research is not a fantasy, does not require charity, and can supply its budget itself. We need to facilitate this path and eliminate laws that complicate the path of youth. We must pave the way for the business environment during sanctions.

Awarding the Winners

On the 24th Razi Research Festival on Medical Sciences, which was held in the presence of the first vice president, the vice president for science and technology affairs, and supervisor of the ministry of health, the winners were awarded.

In the group of clinical sciences and health, Mohammad Esmaeil Motlagh and Mohammad Samiei were ranked third, whereas Leyla Azadbakht and Hamid Ahmadieh were ranked second. In addition, the first rank was allocated to Zahra Bahadoran Baghbadrani and Farshid Ghanbari.

In the group of basic medical sciences, Behzad Baradaran, Mohammad Ramezani and Seyed Mahdi Hosseinian were ranked third, second and the young research, respectively. In the group of inventions and technology, Mahmoudreza Jafari and Pharmaceutical Khorshid Kadous Knowledge-based Co. were selected as the third and second winners.

Tehran University of Medical Sciences was selected as the best type-one university, while Baqiyatallah University of Medical Sciences and Shahrekurd University of Medical Sciences were recognized as best type-two and type-three universities, respectively. In addition, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, Shahid Beheshti and Tehran universities were ranked third, second and first, respectively.

In the section of top research centers, the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Center of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Pharmacology Research Center, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, Center for Non-Denominational Diseases of Tehran University of Medical Sciences Research, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences Biotechnology Research Center, Nutrition Research Center of Endocrine Diseases, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, and Tabriz Medical Science Research Center were selected and awarded as the best research centers.

The Student Research Committee of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Kermanshah and Kurdistan as the electors of medical student research committees selected at universities of type 1, 2 and 3,the Elderly Journal in Persian publications of the University of Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, and Journal of Arthropod-Borne Diseases in the section of English Publication of Tehran University of Medical Sciences were ranked the best in the section of medical sciences publications.

Moreover, Pars Isotop Co. was selected and awarded as the best non-governmental research-supporting organization.
