The Second National Festival and International Congress of Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Is Initiated.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Amir Ali Hamidieh, secretary of the council for stem cells science and technologies, stated on the opening ceremony of the event: the first university of medical sciences has been established in Iran, and I am honored to take a step to follow the path of our old scholars, including ibn Zakariya al-Razi and Ibn Sīnā.

Hamidieh expressed his content with the fact that we are living in a country where our leader recognizes the scientific achievements of Iranian scientists in the field of stem cells as a national ide. He continued: our president has also encouraged the achievements of this field. Presence of scientists in the field of stem cells stimulates the country to produce knowledge-based cellular products, in a way that they could be turned into global brands.
According to Hamidieh, the second round of national festival and international congress of stem cells and regenerative medicine is held to share the scientific experiences of various scientists.
He added: in the past year, more than a thousand people participated in the event. This year, the emphasis of activities is on international cooperation in order to use basic sciences for patients as clinical services.
During this ceremony, Naser Aghdami, scientific secretary of the congress of the second festival of stem cells and regenerative medicine, expressed about holding the event: more than 600 abstracts were delivered, 100 of which were related to the lecturers of the event. Among the 100 abstracts, 26 were related to foreign presenters, whereas 32 and 10 were related to non-resident and resident Iranians, respectively. In addition, 360 posters were accepted.
Pointing out that 10 Iranian lecturers were invited to the event, Aghdami affirmed: other foreign lecturers of the event come from America, England, Portugal, Italy, France, Australia, Switzerland, Netherland, Austria, Germany, Cyprus, Sunan, Turkey, Malaysia, Ireland, Spain, China, Korea and Canada.
