Knowledge-based companies in the field of stem cells have exceeded the country’s capacity

While just a few number of knowledge-based companies were active in the field of stem cells in the past few years, there are now more than a hundred of technological companies in this field. The ecosystem of the field is rapidly forming, in a way that knowledge-based products are produced but the country lacks the necessary capacity for this amount of production.

The ecosystem of technology and entrepreneurship has been properly formed for many fields. In this ecosystem, all components are connected to each other to increase the pace of creating wealth from science.

Science centers, growth centers, accelerators, science and technology parks, knowledge-based companies, startups, and innovation factories are some of these components. In this ecosystem, products are manufactured from the ideas and creativities. Knowledge-based products in this field promise liberation from the oil economy.

Achieving International Markets in the Field of Stem Cells

Amir Ali Hamidieh, the secretary of the council for stem cells sciences and technologies, talked about the export development strategies of knowledge-based companies in this field, stating: some of these companies have a high export capacity.

Emphasizing the necessity of having a global view since the first days of establishment, he added: knowledge-based companies must not just enter the domestic market to sell their products. In addition, being restricted to neighboring countries for selling products is not right. There is a high capacity in East Asian countries, such as India and China. In addition to the large population, these countries also have good relations with our country.

The secretary of the council for stem cells sciences and technologies considered highly populated Islamic countries such as Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh as proper export destinations, affirming: currently, 10-15% of knowledge-based companies have export abilities. While products are exported, their volume is low. Therefore, export corridors must be formed to develop this action.

Of course, some of the high-tech products of these knowledge-based companies are consumed in the UK, Turkey or Europe, but the technology company has not exported. These products are smuggled out of the country and this should be prevented by creating a legal conduit for the expansion of corporate exports.

Hamidieh expressed that sending knowledge-based companies was a way to expand the export of technology products. In this context, he continued: in the trip of the last month to China, four knowledge-based companies were from the field of stem cells.

During the trip, seven contracts were signed between Iranian-based knowledge companies and Chinese parties, three of which were in the field of regenerative medicine.

The important thing is that companies are not alone in traveling to big market countries such as China and India. Forming a consortium of several Iranian technology companies offers a diverse portfolio of products that demand more.
